Chandrababu Naidu injured as makeshift dais caves in

Guntur: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday suffered minor injuries after he fell down following the collapse of a makeshift dais. The incident occurred while he was trying to receive memorandum from a group of students in Kolakaluru village here.
Naidu, after garlanding the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, leaned towards some students who wanted to give memorandums. However, the dais suddenly caved in. Naidu was held on by his security personnel although the TDP leader sustained minor injuries on his leg.
Although Naidu put up a brave face after the incident, doctors were called to examine his injured leg and a decision on continuation of his Vastunna Mee Kosam padayatra would be taken later. According to a TDP leader, Naidu got a sprain on the ankle and was unable to walk properly.
Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneshwari and son Lokesh left for Guntur on the hearing the news of his injury following a fall from the dais.
Naidu developed a sprain and doctors attending on him said that he needs rest. He has suspended the padayatra temporarily. Doctors from Vijayawada and Guntur will be attending on him and the future course will be decided then, TDP leader G Mohan Rao said.
Former minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad and several students were also injured in the incident.
This is the second time that Naidu has been injured in a similar incident of dais collapse during his Vastunna Mee Kosam padayatra. He suffered minor injuries on the back when a dais caved in during a public meeting at Gadwal in Mahabubnagar district October 27 last year.
